Period
The history and period for Æþelwine of Ealdgythesleage is evolving. The basic premise is that he is a 10th century Anglo-Saxon with strong Danelaw influences. This allows me to explore pre-Norman England as well as Viking culture.
Things to consider:
- Background
- Location
- Occupation, skills
- Religion: early-Christain versus pagan
- Story
- Time: Exact dates, early versus late 10th century

"Æþelwine is indeed four syllables: roughly ath -ell-win-ay (but 'th' is as in the, that, not thin").
"...The pattern would be Loud-soft-Loud-soft, with the first syllable a touch louder than the third. Think 'Littlehampton' to get an idea of the rhythm."
