Elizabeth (FERRY) CHANNELL lived in Fawn Grove, York Co, Pennsylvania for most of her married life. The CHANNELL family probably lived near Pylesville, Maryland for part of the time. While looking for evidence of Elizabeth's ancestry I found many FERREE families in York Co, Pennsylvania. I do not know that "FERRY" is the correct spelling for Elizabeth's maiden name, and have accepted that it is possibly a variant spelling or the FERREE surname. Some recent correspondence seems to corroborate this:

I'm afraid I can't offer much help.  My interest in the Ferree 

family pre-dates 1864, however, the fact her marriage took 

place in York Co. is an interesting point.  My Ferree's were 

located along the Adams Co./York Co. border and go back to the 

Ferree's of considerable repute in Lancaster Co., PA.  Along 

the way, the name has been spelled in a variety of ways 

including Ferry.  I suggest you try to do some research in 

Lancaster Co., PA and see if that leads anywhere.  My Ferree's 

immigrated in 1708 and spent considerable time in Lancaster Co.
