ROSE

John ROSE, Jr. was probably the son of John ROSE, Sr. and Mary (--?--). He was born circa 1770. According to Sarah Rose in Pioneer Recollections of Southwest Virginia, he married either Mary STAFFORD or Mary STREET. John ROSE had approximately eight children including:

  4. Wilson ROSE
John ROSE, Jr. died circa May 1850 in Russell Co (now Dickenson), Virginia. A marker was recently placed in Vance Cemetery of Caney Ridge, where he is believed to have been buried.

Wilson ROSE was the son of John ROSE, Jr. and Mary STAFFORD. He was born circa 1807 in Burke Co., North Carolina. He married Virginia Jane VANCE, daughter of the Rev. David VANCE and Elizabeth (--?--). They had twelve children:

Wilson ROSE died circa 1889 in Dickenson Co, Virginia.

Robert Vance ROSE was the son of Wilson ROSE and Virginia Jane VANCE. He was born on 1 May 1829 in Burke Co, North Carolina. He married Elizabeth POWERS, daughter of the Rev. Reuben H. POWERS and Catherine ESTEP, circa 1852. They had eleven children:

John H. ROSE was the son of Robert Vance ROSE and Elizabeth POWERS. He was born circa 1860 in Wise Co., Virginia. He married Elizabeth BUCHANAN, daughter of James BUCHANAN and Polly (--?--), on 4 Apr 1878. They had five children. He married Nancy Caroline SALYER, daughter of Reuben SALYER and Elizabeth POWERS, on 19 Dec 1884 in Dickenson Co, Virginia. They had five children:
  1. Mary A. ROSE, b. 20 Sep 1885 in Dickenson Co, Virginia; mar. Edward Campbell NEECE
  2. Martha ROSE, b. after 1885; mar. Monroe GREEN
  3. Medie ROSE

  2. Dorothy Elizabeth STANLEY

  4. (daughter)
Following Felix's death, Hiley married John Morgan WRIGHT, son of Alex Wright and Henrietta HALE. They had eight children. Hiley Victoria ROSE died on 2 Oct 1968 in Kingsport, Sullivan Co., Tennessee. She was buried at Morrison Chapel Cemetery, Morrison City, Virginia.
