John STANLEY 's parents may have been Joseph STANLEY and Sarah KITCHEN. He was born cir 1784 in Franklin Co, Virginia. He married Frankie WARREN on 3 May 1800 at Franklin Co, Virginia. He married Ollie BAKER, daughter of Edward BAKER and Susannah MULLINS, on 21 Jan 1823 at Franklin Co, Virginia. John and Ollie had about thirteen children:

Lovell S. STANLEY was the son of John STANLEY and Ollie BAKER. He was born on 9 Mar 1827 in Patrick Co, Virginia. He married Isabel Louvina WRIGHT, daughter of Jonathan Wesley WRIGHT and Mary Jane BAILEY, on 19 Mar 1846 near Clintwood, Virginia. Lovell and Isabel had at least six children:

Elizabeth Elmira STANLEY was the daughter of Lovell S. STANLEY and Isabel Louvina WRIGHT. She was born on 23 Jun 1856 in Wise Co, Virginia. She had one son to Floyd STANLEY, before her marriage to "Flat John" MULLINS:

Noah and Martha (Salyer) Stanley and Family Collection of B. Stanley

Noah L. STANLEY was the son of Floyd STANLEY and Bettie MULLINS. The identities of Noah's Parents have been something of a mystery. I have recently discovered that Bettie MULLINS was Elizabeth STANLEY (see above), but have not learned conclusively who Floyd STANLEY was (see Research Notes). It is believed that Noah had five wives. Noah's first wife was probably Isabella DEEL, daughter of John Henry DEEL. They married young and were separated shortly thereafter. Noah's next wife was Nancy Elizabeth GILLIAM, daughter of Lucinda (--?--). Noah and Lizzie had two children: Felix Senter STANLEY Rosa Belle STANLEY, b. Oct 1893, mar. James M. KELLY, mar. Thomas Berry HALL

Noah Stanley next married Martha Ellen SALYER, daughter of Reuben SALYER and Mary POWERS. (family pictured left) Noah and Ellen had the following children:

Although some believe that Noah married Lizzie (GILLIAM) WALLEN again, to date I have no proof of this second (fourth) marriage. I have found evidence of a marriage to Flora Milton in Oct 1919. This marriage lasted less than one year ending in divorce. Noah STANLEY lastly married Amanda (COLLINS). Although there is no evidence that they had children together, "Mandy" brought several children from a previous marriage to John COLLINS.

Felix Senter STANLEY was the son of Noah L. STANLEY and Nancy Elizabeth GILLIAM. He married Hiley Victoria ROSE, the daughter of John H. ROSE and Nancy Caroline SALYER. They had four children: James Calvin Theodore STANLEY Dorothy Elizabeth STANLEY, b. cir 1915 (daughter) (daughter) Felix Stanley was killed on 21 Dec 1919, when he fell beneath the wheels of a moving freight train near Clinchco, Dickenson Co, Virginia. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Dante, Virginia. We hope to find and mark his grave someday. Hiley, his wife, later married John Morgan WRIGHT and has several more children.

Maj. James Calvin Theodore STANLEY was the eldest child of Felix Senter STANLEY and Hiley Victoria ROSE. He was born on 3 Mar 1912, in Dante, Virginia. He married Dolores Mae BODDICE, daughter of William BODDICE and Florence MACK, on 2 Apr 1938. James and Dolores had two children:

James Calvin STANLEY married again on 26 Mar 1947. They adopted one child:

James Calvin Stanley died on 4 May 1989.
